Dr. Sierra Ferguson is Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Hospital and on staff at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist hospital where she works in Emergency Psychiatry, Inpatient Psychiatry and on the Consult-Liason service.
Dr. Ferguson completed her residency in Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She completed her Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at NYU Langone Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, a Masters of Science from the London School of Economics, and she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College. She pursued and completed additional training in psychodynamic therapy at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, sex therapy with NYU’s Human Sexuality Program and is a graduate of the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society’s intensive training in group psychotherapy. She has experience treating individuals for medication management and psychotherapy and works with couples to target issues related to intimacy and communication.
Dr. Ferguson has been recognized for her clinical work as a recipient of the Frieda Plotkin Prize for Excellence in Psychotherapy as well as by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. She has presented her research on addiction at national and international conferences, written a book chapter for clinicians on the treatment of opioid use disorder, and she has published in the American Journal on Addictions. She is a member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society.
